The eyes may be the window to the soul, but displaying your confident and beautiful smile might be the best way to charm and cheer friends, family, and coworkers. Insecurity about stained or misshapen teeth – and the subsequent self-consciousness about smiling – can lead to the perception that you’re unapproachable, timid, or just plain grumpy. While no one should judge others based on appearance, there’s no avoiding the fact that a healthy sense of self-esteem will elevate your interactions with others.
That’s where porcelain veneers come in! At Princeton Prosthodontics and Dental Implants, we love seeing the impact that our cosmetic dental procedures have on a patient’s sense of self-confidence. In particular, porcelain veneers can give you a beautiful, long-lasting smile for years to come.
What are porcelain veneers?
Porcelain veneers are thin shells of hardy porcelain shaped like teeth that are custom-made for each patient. During the procedure, these veneers are bonded to the front of a patient’s teeth for a completely natural-looking smile.
What can porcelain veneers help with?
Specifically, porcelain veneers can help patients struggling with:
- Chipped or eroded teeth
- Awkward spacing
- Unevenly-sized teeth
- Extremely stained or discolored teeth
- Misshapen teeth
- Crooked teeth
What does a porcelain veneer procedure involve?
Getting porcelain veneers typically requires two visits to our practice. Your teeth would be prepared by lightly shaping and buffing the surface to accommodate the veneers. Then, we would make an impression of your teeth and work with you to pick your preferred shade. On your second visit, we would clean your teeth while preparing them for the bonding cement. The veneers are placed and then fixed to the teeth with the cement and a special light beam used to set the bond. Finally, your dentist will give you special care instructions.
